About Lauren Ansley
Conference Emcee | Corporate Workshop Facilitator | Audience Engagement Partner
Hi, I’m Lauren.
I’m a conference emcee, facilitator, speaker, and trainer who believes that connection is a skill, not a personality trait, and that every meeting, conference, or training session is an opportunity to practice it.
Based in Charlotte, NC and available nationwide and virtually, I partner with organizations to create experiences where people feel genuinely connected to the content, to the speakers, and to each other.
Why Connection is the Work
Connection doesn’t happen by accident. It has to be designed, facilitated, and sometimes gently nudged into existence.
I started my career in live performance and stand-up comedy in environments where audience feedback is immediate, honest, and completely unfiltered. There’s no pause button, and no second chance to win the room back once the energy is gone. That taught me to read a room, adjust in real time, and create moments of participation that feel natural instead of forced.
Throughout my career, I’ve worked in event planning, venue sales, association membership sales, marketing and corporate training. So I’ve seen events from every side: the stage, the audience, and behind-the-scenes. I know what it takes to pull of an incredible event, and what planners are counting on when they hand someone the microphone.
That combination became the Work the Room philosophy: helping organizations design experiences where connection is intentional, and people leave energized, seen, and glad they showed up.
How I work
My approach is facilitation-forward and grounded in real-time connection.
I pay close attention to the room, adjust to its energy and create chances to participate that feel comfortable for a wide range of personalities and communication styles.
As an introvert with extroverted tendencies, I know not everyone experiences meetings and conferences the same way. Connection doesn’t have to be loud or performative to be real.
Whether I am emceeing a multi-day conference, facilitating a structured networking experience, leading a workshop or coaching a room full of speakers, my goal is the same: create an environment where people feel comfortable participating.
Who I work With
I work especially well with organizations and leaders who:
Have meaningful, content-rich agendas
Value connection, inclusion and audience experience
Want engagement without forced participation
Care about how people feel in the room
Want audiences leaning in instead of zoning out
My clients already know what they want to communicate. They are looking for a partner who helps the message land in a way people can feel and remember.
Valued clients and partners include Siemens, SHRM, PCMA, AENC, The Chamber at Cabarrus County, CRVA/Visit Charlotte, and more.
The Work the Room Framework
Everything I do falls under one of three spotlights:
Connect with Each Other
Structured networking, conference emceeing, and audience engagement.
Connect with Your Audience
Presentation skills, speaker coaching, and communication training.
Connect with NEW Ideas
Learning experience design, training facilitation, and my STICK framework.
A Few Things You Should Know ABout Me
I started in stand-up comedy, and it shaped everything about how I facilitate, train, and hold a room.
I am a TEDx speaker coach and have helped speakers prepare for some of the most important talks of their careers.
I am a proud introvert with extroverted tendencies, so I understand different ways people experience the same room.
I host the Work the Room with Lauren Ansley podcast, with new episodes twice a month.
I believe the best meetings leave people more connected than when they arrived.
Charlotte, NC is home, but I will go wherever the room needs working.
